Six Word Memoir Sgraffito Pot

My take on this assignment was a fallen angel type of thing. It was based on a fallen feline angel who rebelled against everything, hence the carvings that read, "run from everything, kneel to no one."

Coil Pot

This assignment was, in all honesty, a pain. After having my first (nearly finished) pot destroyed, my motivation was at an all time low, but after persevering and finishing it, I'm overall pretty pleased with the result.

Alibrije

Out of everything I've worked on this year, I can definitely say this assignment was both my favorite, and my proudest piece. I'm quite pleased with the shape, especially the legs, even if they took the longest. The fur on the mane seemed to fit perfectly. I also sunk the eyes into the head to add a following effect, so wherever you stand, the statue is looking at you.

Three-Footed Pot

I don't have too much to say on this project. I'm just grateful that it survived, and to have had such a satisfying looking geometric pattern to use. Not the best project, not the worst, but it made a pretty good remote holder for the living room table.

Choice Project

This project was intended to be a statue of a character of mine known as Audacity. Unfortunately, due to issues with time, hardening clay, a restart, and fading motivation, he could not be finished. I'm not very pleased with it. There is much room for improvement, and I hope to remake him some day in the future.

Mug

My idea for this project was one of my favorites! It's a fish mug, the tail being the handle, with a small cat on top of it. My intentions were for him to give you a kiss on the forehead when you drank, but it seemed like it'd get annoying after a while and I created faster than I thought, so the pieces where mostly already in place when I considered that idea. It wasn't worth the risk, so I kept it how it was, and I'm still just as pleased, even without the forehead kisses, and despite the fact that the cat lost his tail.

Storybook Vessel

My storybook vessel represents a story about two close friends who died in battle, were resurrected as gods, and one friend betrayed the other in the form of a murder mystery. A more detailed explanation of the story follows: a cat named Athens (long ears) and a wolf named Howler (horns) were friends through everything--battle, heartbreak, anything life threw at them. However, when Howler threw himself into the way of a demon to protect their city, he was killed in battle and Athens remained heartbroken and sour until the day he died. When they met in the afterlife, their deeds were deemed noble enough to be raised to a god status. Athens, however, wasn't satisfied with the prejudices he faced before his promotion from a slave to a god. He viewed the afterlife and the gods who ruled the world as selfish, narcissistic beings, and killed one for power. Many years later, his crime was discovered, and their friendship broke apart immediately, leaving them both sour and hateful towards each other.
